Library Associations

SLIS students have been successful in securing awards from national, provincial, and other library and professional associations.  Applications are required for such awards; check relevant websites for application procedures and deadlines.

• Provincial, special and other library and information associations frequently offer awards.  Check provincial, special, and other library associations' websites for eligibility criteria.

• Financial Assistance for Library and Information Studies, an annual handbook published by the ALA, is a valuable source of information.
• Many divisions of the Special Libraries Association (such as Advertising, Education, and Medical) offer travel awards for funding to attend the SLA conference.  Go to the SLA website and select your area of interest, then explore that division's website to find the travel awards and other scholarships they offer.

FGSR Resources

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research offers a comprehensive guide to awards information for graduate students attending the University of Alberta. These include major awards like the Province of Alberta Graduate Scholarship and smaller awards, such as the Mary Louise Imrie travel grant.
